5 Critical Areas

Accuracy
Ask yourself: Is the information free of grammar, spelling, and other typographical errors?
Is it clear who has the ultimate responsibility for the accuracy of the content?
Are the sources for the content clearly posted so they can be checked?
Does the information conflict with what you already know to be true?

Authority
Ask yourself:
What is the nature or purpose of the web page?
Who is sponsoring or publishing the page?
Is there a link that describes who the author, publisher or sponsor is?

Objectivity
Ask yourself:
Is the information provided as a public service?
Is the information presented biased? (it shouldn't be)
Is there advertising on the page? (can you tell where the content of the page and the advertising are?)

Currency
Ask yourself:
How up-to-date does the information need to be?
Is this information that changes often?
Does the site show when the last update occured?
When and how was data gathered?

Coverage
Ask yourself:
How technical do I need the information to be?
Is the information too overwhelming for me to use effectively?
Is there enough information to accomplish what I need?
